SWIM BAGS FOR CANNONS CREEK SCHOOL

Last year we received some beautiful letters from Cannons Creek school asking if they could be considered for our Swim Bag programme.  We couldn't refuse.  We got together with our suppliers EFL (who made sure their pencil was very sharp on the bags, swimsuits and goggles) and Bed Bath and Beyond in Kilbirnie who gave us a huge discount on towels, and  supplied 200 children with Swim Bags.   Here are some of the children ready for their swim lesson.  The staff are loving the fact that each child has a bag, and all items have been named, making mix ups an easy thing to sort.  Best of all, all children can participate in their lessons.

CHRISTMAS FUNDRAISER UPDATE

INAUGRAL TOMMY'S GOLF FUNDRAISER A GREAT DAY ON THE GREEN

What a great day the team at Tommy's organised!  They managed to raise over $14,000 on the day towards Given for You's Swim Bags project.  Our swim bags cost $25 per child and include a bag, togs, towel and goggles.  The aim is to enable all children to participate in their school swim programme.  It means that children come to school on the days when swim lessons are scheduled instead of staying home.  There are many benefits to this which include fitness, water awareness and safety, and fun with friends.  

Given for You has already trialled this programme with Kahurangi school in Strathmore, and we are now excited about how many other schools this funding will help over the 2018 year, starting with Cannon's Creek School.

TOMMY'S GOLF FUNDRAISER

The fabulous team at Tommy's has been busy organising a Golf Fundraiser on 23 November at Miramar Golf Club in support of Given for You.  All profits will be donated towards Given for You's Swim Bags Programme.  Our Swim Bag Programme targets lower decile schools  and was designed to ensure all children could attend their school swimming lessons. Kahurangi school was the first participant in our programme.  We delivered each child at the school a bag containing togs, towel and goggles.  The swimming lesson programme is an important part of children's learning especially as it has so many benefits including water safety, fitness and fun.
